- Slow progressive course
- Inspiratory vital capacity > 25% of the target value
- paCO2 (partial pressure of carbon dioxide in blood) < 45 mmHg
Other medical conditions with respiratory muscle weakness, such as
- Cystic fibrosis
- Kyphoscoliosis or diaphragmatic dysfunction
- Thoracic deformity
- in the pre- and postoperative area during thoracic surgery
- Chronic heart failure
